The description of the work:
After the program is launched, it stays in the system tray (next to the clock). If its
icon is right-clicked, the menu for managing the program will pop up. There are 11 working
modes in the program. By default, the first mode is on (the
registered version has no such a limitation).
The menu items:
- Mode 1 when the Esc button is pressed, the
mouse cursor is positioned in the upper right-hand corner of the active window, where the Close
button is located. After that, you just click the mouse to close the window. It is the
"milder" mode allowing you to close windows more carefully.
- Mode 2 when the Esc button is pressed, the
active window is immediately closed.
- Mode 3 when the Esc button is pressed, the
mouse cursor is positioned in the upper right-hand corner of the active window, where the Minimize
button is located. After that, you just click the mouse to minimize the window to the
TaskBar. It is the "milder" mode allowing you to hide windows more carefully.
- Mode 4 when the Esc button is pressed, the
active window is immediately minimized to the TaskBar.
- Mode Esc+Esc when the Esc
button is pressed, the mouse cursor is positioned in the upper right-hand corner of the
active window, where the Close button is located. After that, you just
press again the Esc button to close the window.
- Mode 5.1 when the Esc + ~ buttons is pressed (press down the Esc
key, press down and release the ~ key, then release
the Esc key), the active window is hidden. Thus you can
see it neither in the system tray nor in the Task Manager list (Ctrl+Alt+Del) nor in the
list opening by pressing Alt+Tab. In order to restore a hidden application select it in
the list from the 'Restore hidden'.
- Mode 5.2 when the Esc + ~ buttons is pressed (press down the Esc
key, press down and release the ~ key, then release
the Esc key), the active window is minimized in the tray.
In order to restore a hidden application select it in the list from the 'Restore
hidden', or click at appropriate icon in the tray.
- Restore hidden The list of hidden applications is displayed.
- Restore all (Ctrl+Shift+A) Restore all hidden applications.
- Mode 6 when the F11 button is pressed, the any
active window is immediately maximized or minimized (like MS Internet Explorer).
- Mode ~
when the `(or ~) button (under the Esc
button) is pressed, the active window is immediately minimized.
- Mode ~ all
when the `(or ~) button (under the Esc
button) is pressed, all of the active windows is immediately minimized. If the `(or
~) button (under the Esc button) is pressed again, all of the
minimized windows is immediately restored.
- Mode 7 (*, +, -) Pressing the * key
(on the numeric keypad) selects all files. Pressing the + key
(on the numeric keypad) selects files according to the mask. Pressing the -
key (on the numeric keypad) clears the selection according to the mask. (This mode available only in the Windows XP)
Note: If some program closes its windows with the Esc
button itself, Mode 1 and Mode 3 will not work.
- Exceptions... - a list of programs which should not be closed
(minimized) when pressing the Esc.
The left list contains program windows running at the moment. The
windows that are not supposed to close at pressing the Escape button are
transferred from the left list into the right list. The records in the right list can be
edited. For example, there is a record Microsoft Word Document1.doc.
Only the Microsoft Word window with the open document Document1.doc will not close. If you
change this record for Microsoft Word, Microsoft Word with any open document
will not close.
Now you can use checkboxes to set exceptions separately for different modes. Select the
name of the necessary program window in the exception list and select/clear the
corresponding checkbox. By default, a new exception is used for all modes, i.e. all
checkboxes are selected.
- Settings / Auto Run - if this option is on, the program will
automatically run at Windows startup.
- Settings / The notice by a Sound - if this option is on, sound is
available.
- Settings / The notice by change of the Cursor - if this option is on,
change of the Cursor is available.
- Settings / Show system tray icon - if this option is off, EscapeClose
is launched without an icon in the system tray. To restore the icon, you should restart
EscapeClose. (This feature available only in the registered
version)
- Remove the icon from a tray - the icon is removed from the system tray,
but the program continues functioning (to save the place in the tray). To restore the
icon, you should restart EscapeClose.
- Screen Saver is active - you can temporally stop the screensaver start
(e.g. to watch a movie)
